Antoni Gaudí, the architect behind Barcelona’s most visited attraction – the Sagrada Família church – was hit by a tram in 1926 and died after not receiving immediate medical attention as onlookers had mistaken him for a beggar. Today, exactly one hundred years since the architect’s death, Pope Leo XIV visited the iconic basilica to celebrate a Mass and inaugurate the tower which makes the church the tallest in the world. Gaudí died knowing his masterpiece would be unfinished. The blessing of the Tower of Jesus Christ signifies a major step in what has been a 144-year journey toward completion for an extraordinary religious building that attracts millions of visitors a year. The green, white and red colors of the Mexican flag are blanketing parts of Mexico City as the country’s capital gets ready to host the opening match of the World Cup this Thursday. From stores selling the bright green soccer jerseys of Mexico’s national team to digital billboards promoting the matches, it seems everyone is eager to cash in on the tournament. By one estimate, the country could generate roughly $3.7 billion (MX$65 billion) in revenue from the event, with tourism alone projected to bring in almost half that amount to Mexico City.

A former child actor has accused Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting him in 2007 at a networking event in the Hollywood Hills. The anonymous male accuser filed his lawsuit against Combs this week in California. CNN has obtained a copy of the suit. The lawsuit is the latest in the mounting and continuous legal troubles for the incarcerated music mogul, who is currently appealing his conviction on federal charges in New York on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, for which he was sentenced to more than four years in prison. He also has a case under active review by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, according to a spokesperson for that office.
