SpaceX revealed its long-awaited plans to go public on Wednesday, shedding light on the finances and leadership of one of the largest, best-known and yet most secretive private companies in history. Elon Musk’s rocket and satellite company revealed previously undisclosed details, including its board members, sales, profit, expenses and how it does business. It will trade under the ticker symbol SPCX. One thing it didn’t disclose: How much the company expects to raise and what the company could be worth in what is widely predicted to be the biggest-ever initial public offering – perhaps by a factor of three.

A large wildfire has burned nearly a third of Santa Rosa Island in California’s Channel Islands National Park — an area home to dozens of rare plants and animals, including some found nowhere else in the world. The blaze ignited on Friday and has grown to nearly 17,000 acres as of Tuesday evening, making it the largest fire in the state this year, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. It is 26% contained. The fire has already claimed two historic structures on the island and forced the evacuation of 11 National Park employees on Sunday, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The island is also closed to visitors.

Too much screen use among kids and teens – including endless social media scrolling, nonstop texting and hours of video games – can be harmful, and it has become a public health concern in the United States, according to a surgeon general’s advisory released Wednesday. Officials at the US Department of Health and Human Services collaborated on the new advisory, as there is no confirmed surgeon general within the Trump administration. The advisory warns that exposure to screens often begins before a child’s first birthday and increases with age.

US President Donald Trump has raised the prospect of speaking to Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, in what would be an unprecedented move for a US leader and a major departure from diplomatic norms. US and Taiwanese presidents have not spoken directly since 1979, when Washington shifted diplomatic recognition to Beijing from Taipei. “I’ll speak to him,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Wednesday when asked whether he would call Lai before making a decision on whether he will sign off on a major Congress-approved arms sale to the island.
